The crane is decked out in a very appropriate yellow and black colour scheme with the odd flash
of white and grey. It makes use of the standard pneumatic system to raise and lower the crane arm
and has a small wheel at the back to control the turntable using a very neat system of gears.
The arm can be extended via a wheel on the side of the cab and the hook can be raised or lowered
by yet another wheel, this time featuring a ratchet system to prevent the hook falling when lifting.
The four wheel, proportional steering is controlled by one of two wheels on the top of the drivers cab
and finally, the whole truck can be raised off the ground using a very clever system that extends four
arms from the lower sides (this works really well, a brilliant little touch). The only downside is
that the steering wheel in the drivers cab is a dummy but this is very minor.
This is a fantastic set and, although no longer available, I would encourage anyone who collects
Technic LEGO to try to get hold of this set via an auction or second hand.
I wish the LEGO Group would produce a few more Technic sets like this one
that are packed with features and look good as well. It deserves the maximum score!
